Our widely experienced Board of Directors provides vital strategic oversight and guidance to ensure Advance Housing achieves our mission. The Board does this through establishing our strategic direction and monitors Advance Housing's achievement against this whilst ensuring that all governance requirements and community expectations are met.
Peter Adams
Chairperson- CEO of ATC Worksmart
- Advance Housing Director since 2008
- Chairperson of Advance Housing since 2012 and member of the Finance Sub Committee
Peter brings with him over four decades of management experience in the private and not-for-profit sectors in areas including strategic planning, financial management, human resources, policy formulation and corporate governance. He has served on a variety of Boards which currently includes disability employment service provider Great Southern Personnel; Great Southern Employment Development Committee. Peter is also President of the Rotary Club of Albany Port. His experience has given Peter a good understanding of the affordable housing needs of people with disabilities, and those that struggle with limited employment opportunities or difficulty managing resources whilst balancing work and study.
Penny Bryant
Treasurer- Chief Financial Officer with the Community Living Association
- Advance Housing Director since 2015, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Sub Committee
Penny has also worked in Broome and the Pilbara, has a Business Degree, and holds professional status with CPA Australia.
Joanna Fictoor
Director- Service Manager at Great Southern Anglicare WA
- Director of Advance Housing since 2017
As Service Manager Joanna has responsibility for the Albany Women’s Centre, a not-for-profit service run by Anglicare WA that offers assistance to women and children affected by family and domestic violence. In addition to this service, Joanna manages housing, family and domestic violence outreach and financial counselling services in Albany and Katanning for Anglicare.
Tom Stevens
Director- Director of H&H Architects in Albany
- Project Architect
- Advance Housing Director since 2013
Tom is originally from the UK and holds extensive experience in architectural design with a deep focus on heritage projects and sustainable design, including the Midland Railway Workshops and the tunnels below Fremantle Prison. Tom holds a BA (Hons) in Architecture and a Post Grad Diploma in Sustainable and Conservation Architecture.
Roger Crook
Director- Retired Agriculture and Marketing Professional
- Advance Housing Director since 2013, member of the finance sub committee and property development sub committee
Roger has retired with extensive qualifications and experience in agriculture and agribusiness, marketing and management consultancy, including delivery of projects for indigenous people. Roger has both a practical farming and a comprehensive agribusiness background along with broad experience as a director of unlisted public companies.
Rob Mason
Director- Bachelor of Business (Finance & Economics majors)
- Diploma of Property
Following almost a decade as a wool buyer/ trader in WA and SA, Rob Mason began his real estate sales career in Perth in 1999. He moved to Albany with his family in 2013 after owning a successful real estate business in Scarborough. He is a well-regarded auctioneer in Western Australia and has experience in most aspects of the property business.
Rob started Mason Realty in Albany in 2017 specialising in higher end property sales in Albany and Denmark. The small team have an established presence in both towns, and are known for innovative, high impact marketing campaigns, attention to detail, and a very high level of service.
Previous board positions include Joondalup TAFE, Scarborough Surf Club (Vice President), and Albany Surf Club (President for 4 years). Rob continues to be involved in the local community, running a number of events on behalf of the Surf Club, volunteering for Disabled Surfing, conducting charity auctions and donating to worthy causes in the region.
