12 New Homes in Albany
Posted on:
Advance Housing are proud to partner with My Home Australasia to support the delivery 12 new long-term homes for people on a low-income experiencing homelessness.
My Home Australasia, a philanthropic housing developer, led the project, securing $4.27 million from the Department of Housing and Works to design and construct the new homes in Albany. Each dwelling is built to a high energy rating, to create comfortable homes, with low running costs for tenants. The homes feature an interior fresh air exchange system which eliminates the need for conventional air conditioning, while using only a fraction of the energy. Combined with double glazed windows, above-standard insulation, and north-facing living areas, the design contributes to highly energy-efficient homes.
Constructed by Smith Construction, the development includes 12 purpose-built dwellings, comprising of six one-bedroom, one-bathroom homes and six two-bedroom, one-bathroom homes.
Now the new homes have been completed, Advance Housing will be responsible for the allocation, tenancy and property management of the new homes.
Each home has been fully equipped with essential appliances, homewares and even a pantry full of food to support the incoming tenants. This generous work was made possible through the coordination of My Home Rotary and collaboration with Rotary of Albany Port and partners, Inner Wheel Albany and partners, CWA Albany, Albany Men’s Shed, Lions, Soroptimists, Rotary International Caravanning Fellowship, Rotary Osborne Park and other passionate community members who simply wanted to help.
Tenants have been positively overwhelmed and amazed at the how much has been provided, plus the level of care and detail.
