We are pleased to invite an Aboriginal tenant or householder currently living in an Advance Housing managed property to develop artwork for our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Description of project

We invite Aboriginal tenants or householders currently living in an Advance Housing managed property to submit an Expression of Interest to create an artwork to be used in our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and to be displayed in our office foyer.

We are seeking an artwork with the theme of:

• Home
• Place
• Great Southern region (including Menang, Goreng and Keneang language groups)

Who can express interest?

New, emerging or established Aboriginal artists who are current tenants or householders living in an Advance Housing managed property.

How to express your interest

Complete the simple Aboriginal Artwork- EOI Form or contact our office by phone, email or in person.

How will your EOI be assessed?

The EOI will be reviewed by a panel of Advance Housing RAP working group members. The panel may seek art or cultural advice during the process. Selection will be based on:

• Artistic ideas, quality and originality
• Ability to meet project timeframes

What will the successful artist do?

The successful artist will develop one artwork on canvas to display in the Advance Housing office foyer. The artwork will also be used in the Advance Housing Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan publication. The artist will also be supported to compile a short summary of their work and themselves.

The artwork must not be AI generated.

Key dates

• Expression of interest by 30 September 2026
• Notification of outcome by 9 October 2026
• Artwork completion by 30 November 2026

 Payment for the successful artist

A fee of $3,000 – $5,000 will be negotiated with the successful artist for an original commissioned canvas and copyright licence for print and digital publications.

The canvas will be displayed in the Advance Housing head office foyer plus be digitised for use in the Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan publication and other Advance Housing publications.

The negotiated fee will be based on Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia pricing matrix, depending on the experience of the artist and the size of the canvas.
